Sun Country Airlines has its own story that tells about a smaller airline fighting to survive in recent difficult economic times and coming out on top. Seriously, this airline should be long gone and dead by all accounts, but they are not. Sun Country has been hit hard in recent years like every other business. Sun Country Airlines is still operating even if they are in bankruptcy reorganization as of late 2010. A plan has been approved, their creditors are happy and satisfied with the future and long term outlook for Sun Country. This airline is different in many respects due to their global recognition for providing excellent service. mandarin chinese translation
Just about all airlines engage in a great balancing act, and Sun Country Airlines is no different in that regard. The official date of birth for Sun Country Airlines was June, 1999. Unfortunately that was a very difficult time for all airlines, and then to make matters worse they were embroiled in price wars with each other. It did not take long for them to lose 60 million dollars by the year 2000.
The governments grounding of all flights after September 11th 2001 sealed the fate of the airline. Sadly, three months later at the end of 2001 saw the doors close and scheduled flights halted for Sun Country Airlines. Sun Country announced in July of this year their award of a top ten domestic airline according to Travel & Leisure Magazine. This award is part of Travel & Leisure’s World Best Service Award for 2010. It’s important to note that this particular award is not just handed out like candy, it’s earned based on the reviews of actual passengers on the airlines in question. The pool of eligible airlines included domestic carriers of all sizes. For Sun Country this is a huge achievement they take seriously. chinese pinyin translation
December 2009, Sun Country gave a real treat to almost 100 kids with a fairy tale flight to the North Pole. A Flight To The North Pole was what the event was called. This was a tremendous gesture by Sun Country who worked with local chapters of Big Brothers and Big Sisters along with United Way. They succeeded wildly with making those children very happy for the holidays. What they did was taxi the plane for half an hour on the field and employees pretended they were flying to the North Pole. Sun Country Airlines is in the middle of bankruptcy reorganization, but everyone including their creditors are very optimistic. Thanks to the many years of experience in the industry, their management and employees will no doubt turn things around quickly. There is no question that they know what to do in this situation. The turn of events in the global economy is beyond their control. It should be clear that Sun Country will be able to pull this one off, too.
